Technine week was a blast both on and off the hill filled with memorable moments like a powdered donut eating contest turned white out food fight. Not to mention a Dream Feature unlike no other, who else but the FODT/T9 crew to bring an actual Dumpster on hill for that Real Deal Holyfield street jib. Good Times no doubt..MFM skated with the kids daily and handed out plenty of goodies so everyone was stoked. We had a T9 zombie dodgeball tournament where kids got to take there best shot at the team. Is all I can say is that we had a great time and cant wait to come back with vengeance next summer to make our session the BEST!!..Big Thanks go out to the Windells crew, Tim,Mary,Keaton,K-Mart and all staff and campers!!

Who could finish theyre plate first? We had 25 contestants each with 15 donuts awaiting theyre little dry mouths.
It was no easy feat..is all it took was one sore loser and this party turned into an all out donut launching war zone.

We hosted a Dream Feature contest/jam and this camper threw down! Rodeos and backflips all day.
Jonah was sessioning everything..He and Dylan stacked the most shots for sure. Heres the other half to our feature.. back 3 shifty over the jersey barrier..
The third addition to the T9 minor league is Zander, one of the most stylish little guys I have ever seen..Here he is getting an insane view of the valley below.

Summer is blazing by at Windells, the park is set up on hill and the concrete is fun off hill. Chef Ryan has been cooking up a storm in the Heshin’ Delicatessen, making sure the only thing campers are hungry for is learning new tricks on snow and on the acrobag. There has been a slew of the sickest visiting pros who have come and built Dream Features and had an amazing time chilling out with the campers, and there’s no sign of the fun slowing down.
Session 4 is a big one. July 6-13, Windells welcomes the Technine team. The stacked group of Marc Frank Montoya, Chris Bradshaw, Lucas Magoon, Dylan Thompson, Jonah Owen, and the Technine Ams are rolling into camp, complete with MFM’s balled-out RV and a custom set up for their Dream Feature. They’ve been brainstorming up a jibby-secret set up that will be unveiled the first day on hill. Says Kenny Martinez, Windells staffer and member of the Technine crew, “I’m pumped that the whole crew is coming from all over the country for the session and I can’t wait for the campers to see the Dream Feature. Its something that’s never been put on hill before—guaranteed”
Windells couldn’t be more excited to have such a heavy-hitting and influential crew of riders visiting for a session. The Technine team will be riding the Windells park with the campers (showing them a few things about hitting rails), hanging out at camp, playing dodgeball, and skating the Concrete Jungle. Expect to see some good photos and blog updates as the week goes on.
As FODT and MFM Productions get ready to release their 10th film this season, they’ll be doing some summer shooting at Windells, too. The team will be filming a full DVD extra for their upcoming release, The Arena, featuring all of the shredding and camp antics the team gets into while at Hood.
Session 4 is going to be an epic session, so stay tuned to www.windells.com and www.technine.com for updates all week.

Lucas Magoon’s first full length video part was featured in Finger On Da Trigga’s ” Cold World “. Heres a look back at a very influential rider who came on the scene and started alot of trends in todays snowboard styles and tricks. Not to mention, Lucas produced some heavy magazine coverage that year with the help of E Stone, it seems like i remember a photo in the mag that goes with almost every video shot including a Snowboarder Mag cover. Good job Lucas..Lets do it again!

Crewzin’ Episode 3 takes you on set with one of the PROest of film crews while shooting for their upcoming release THE ARENA. With years of experience producing their own unique brand of raw snowboard films, Finger On Da Trigger movies always step it up and with this session as evidence, THE ARENA will be no different. Derek Dennison & Dylan Thompson step shit up while Snowboarder Magazine Senior Photographer E-Stone captures the action for next year’s mag. All the while, F.O.D.T. film makers Cole Taylor & Jeremy Mills oversee the video production. Enjoy.

A Trip Through the Donner Pass Train Tunnels

With all the late May snowfall in the high Sierras, I found myself making a couple trips to visit the Tahoe/Truckee boys for some last minute filming. One of snowboardings most notorious hiking accessible backcountry zones called ASI also leads the way to a series of abandonned train tunnels that date back to the late 1800′s. The legend has it that hundreds of chinese laborers or slaves were used to build the train tunnels and railway that stretch over the summit. One day, the owners of the railway company refused to pay the workers, and gave them a drug induced meal instead. The bodies were then placed on large log rafts laden with TNT and set adrift into the cove below the tracks known as Donner Lake.
Donner Pass gets its name from the historical Donner-Reed Party which tells the story of American Pioneers who in their travels to the Sierra Nevada, got stuck in winter storms which lead them to death or canabalism to survive. With these stories along with many others, it makes traveling through the tunnels a bit spooky and exciting.
